It’s nearly impossible to say anything new that hasn’t already been said about the overwhelming success of the Golden Knights. One thing for sure, it’s a miracle. The Knights season has come down to one last conquest and it’s the most coveted trophy in all of sports, the Stanley Cup. Let’s Crunch the Numbers: It all started October 6th, 2017 against the Dallas Stars with a 2-1 victory in Dallas and it all started with Fleury making 45 saves and allowing one goal. The excitement continued to build over the course of the inaugural season as this team just kept winning. They got victories at home, they got some very solid victories on the road and they started believing in themselves. As the season marched on the Knights got better and prognosticators actually started giving them some credit. The bookmakers in Vegas started giving them credit and they kept winning to the tune of 51 regular season victories. 10 Star - Vegas Golden Knights Story of the Year The knights enter the Stanley Cup Playoffs after having backdoor swept a very good Winnipeg Jets. Take a look at the numbers that matter. The Knights come into the finals 5th in scoring with 3.3 goals per game and 8th overall with 2.7 goals scored against, and this is in large part due to the overwhelming great play of goal keeper Marc Fluery. The Knights are 11th in the NHL at power play percentage with 21.4 and 10th in penalty kill, 81.4. Gerard Gallant: It all started in Prince Edward Island where he grew up with a love for hockey and playing on the local ice rink. “Spuddy” was the nickname because Prince Edward Island happens to be the potato capital of Canada. Gallant got an early start to his career as a junior player for the Summerside Crystals when he was 16 and scored 60 goals and racked up 115 points. Gallant was drafted to the Detroit Red Wings in 1981, in the sixth round. He made his NHL debut on January 22nd, 1985 against the New York Islanders. Gallant had a solid career but retired early (1995) at the age of 32, due to back problems. He has literally been through the hockey war and his history of toughness and resilience has led to a 51 game-winning season as captain of the ship for the Las Vegas Golden Knights. It was February first when the Knights made history by recording their 34th win and breaking an all-time NHL record for most wins by an expansion franchise and the remarkable thing is, they it in 50 games. Gallant is a hard-nosed, tough-minded NHL coach that has literally seen every kind of problem, hassle and naysaying about his teams. Well, he shocked the world and here he stands, ready to take on either the Tampa Bay Lightning or the Washington Capitals. Either of these two will be a challenge to say the least but if any-one coach can beat the odds, it’s Gallant. Forget the Sales Pitch – What do Gamblers Need in a Sportsbook? The Golden Knights will be a prepared NHL team and they will be hard to beat by either the TBL or the Caps. If history repeats itself, then everyone is in luck with a team that most definitely wants to win and wants to win this year.
