The Houston Cougars will make history Saturday night when they begin play as a Big 12 member by hosting the UTSA Roadrunners in a nonconference game. Donovan Smith, the Cougars QB, is a Texas Tech transfer, where he made eight starts and appeared in 21 games for the Red Raiders. He started and beat the Cougars last season, leading the Red Raiders to a 33-30 victory in double OT. Smith threw for 350 yards and two touchdowns while getting intercepted three times, and he ran for a touchdown. UTSA coach Jeff Trayler was a vital part in UTSA going from Conference USA to the American Conference, and UTSA is really good, with a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Many prognosticators have them in their Top 35 for power ratings. Texas-San Antonio is 10-1 SU in their last 11 games, let's roll with them to get started on the right foot.
