Daily NBA Fantasy Report for Monday 1/25/2016

By: Jimmy Boyd     Date: Jan 25, 2016
Print Article

After a short card on Sunday, Monday night offers a nine-game schedule in the NBA which gives us plenty of options from a fantasy standpoint. Here is one of several lineups that I will be using at DraftKings in tournament play and it hits at exactly the $50,000 cap.

Point Guard - Kemba Walker - $8,600

While Stephen Curry is the obvious choice and will get a lot of ownership, we will save some money here and go with Kemba Walker in what is an excellent matchup. Walker has put up fantasy point totals of 80.75 and 72.25 in two of his last four games while averaging 48.1 fppg over his last seven games. Curry is facing the Spurs which allow the sixth fewest points to point guards, while Sacramento allows the third most at that position.

Shooting Guard - Will Barton - $5,500

James Harden is coming off a triple-double yesterday and that is a good reason to go against him here as duplicating his 65.8 points will be tough. Will Barton will not be heavily owned which is always a good thing as he has put up at least 25 fantasy points in four of his last six games. He is coming off a subpar shooting effort in his last game against Detroit but the potential is there proven by his 20.8 ppg average in December.

Small Forward - Trevor Ariza - $5,200

Trevor Ariza is coming off a big game yesterday as he is coming off a season-high 29 points to go along with three rebounds, three steals, and two assists. This would normally be a situation to fade him but he has been great all month and with Dwight Howard still on the shelf, Ariza will continue to be a scoring option. He is shooting a career best from long range and has a good matchup tonight against New Orleans.

Power Forward - DeMarcus Cousins - $11,000

DeMarcus Cousins will be our high priced player of the night and for good reason. He is averaging 60.5 fppg over his last 10 games and has scored fewer than 60 points only five times. Even at the high price, there is value as I have him at over 60 fantasy points in 11 of my 12 projection models with one of those projecting 71 points. He faces a Charlotte team that is ranked 21st in points allowed to opposing power forwards.

Center - Al Horford - $6,900

Two of the best centers above Al Horford are out tonight and he has one of the better matchups tonight against the others that will be playing. He has been playing great by averaging 35.2 fppg over his last 10 games and that includes a 4.5-point dud so take that out and he has averaged 38.6 fppg in the other nine games. His salary has remained steady and is still on the low side for centers averaging between 34 and 37 fppg.

Guard - Evan Turner - $4,500

Evan Turner is one our value plays tonight that has a low salary with a high upside. He has averaged over 20 fppg over his last five games after a slow start to the month and despite this, his salary continues to trend down. He faces Washington tonight and the Wizards allow the second most fantasy points to opposing shooting guards. He is good for around 25 minutes per game and he should continue his success tonight.

Forward - Marvin Williams - $4,800

Marvin Williams is coming off an average performance against the Knicks in his last game but this is a great spot for a rebound. He has put up over 30 fppg in three of his last five games and he is averaging his most fppg since 2008. His minutes continue to climb which is a positive trend and tonight he faces Sacramento which is 22nd in the league in points allowed to opposing power forwards.

Utility - Boban Marjanovic - $3,500

Boban Marjanovic is not a household name and most people probably don't even know who he plays for. The Spurs rookie has seen his playing time increase significantly over the last month and while he played just nine minutes against the Lakers Friday, he should see a lot of time tonight with Tim Duncan sitting out tonight. The last game Duncan sat out was last Thursday and Marjanovic played 22 minutes and put up 35.75 fantasy points.
