2022 NFL Betting Preview

Major Moves of Note

Probably the biggest move of the NFL offseason was the trade by Denver to acquire QB Russell Wilson. The Broncos become an instant AFC West, AFC, and Super Bowl favorite. It’s also worth a look at the Broncos win total. Denver won seven games last year and will likely improve that number.

Combining Wilson with one of the NFL’s better defenses - Denver was No. 3 in scoring defense last year (18.9 ppg) - makes the Broncos a team to watch.

Other QB moves included the trade that sent Matt Ryan to Indianapolis making the Colts a favorite in the AFC South. The Cleveland Browns acquired Deshaun Watson, but that scenario may have a negative effect on the Browns. Watson’s off-field issues may leave Cleveland with Jacoby Brissett under center this season.

WR Tyreek Hill gives Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa his first true deep threat. Davante Adams reunites with his college teammate - Raiders QB Derek Carr. Khalil Mack will play opposite Joey Bosa making the Chargers defense that much better.

NFL Conference Favorites

After Tom Brady’s head fake of a retirement, Tampa Bay became the favorite to win not only the NFC South, but also the NFC. Currently, the Bucs are cemented in as the NFC favorite at +300.

Reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers returns in Green Bay without Adams yet the Packers are listed behind the Bucs at +450 to win the NFC. The reigning Super Bowl champion L.A. Rams are next on the board at +500. Check out our premium picks page to see our great prices.

In the AFC, it’s another year of the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have eliminated the Bills from the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. Oddsmakers believe this is the year of the Bill. Buffalo is the +300 favorite to win the AFC.

Kansas City is next at +600 and their AFC West rival, the Los Angeles Chargers, are third on the board at +750. With Wilson’s trade to Denver, the Broncos are fourth at +850 making the AFC West the premier division in the conference.

Super Bowl Favorites - 2022 NFL Betting Preview

The Bills had the best defense - scoring and total - in the NFL last season. Combine that with the talents of QB Josh Allen and the rest of the Buffalo offense and you have the recipe for a Super Bowl title.

The Bills are the overall favorite to capture the Lombardi Trophy. They are given +600 odds to win the Super Bowl. Buffalo is followed by Tampa Bay at +700. They are the only two teams given better than +1000 odds.

Green Bay and Kansas City are both listed at +1000 with the defending champion Rams rounding out the top-5 at +1100. Focusing on your own 2022 NFL betting preview will help with these odds.

MVP

The MVP market is the most popular of the player awards futures. Only one player in the history of the NFL has won three consecutive MVPs. Ironically, it is the guy that Aaron Rodgers replaced in Green Bay - Brett Favre.

Rodgers has won the last two straight NFL MVPs, but he is not favored to win a third in a row. Allen gets the nod as the favorite. He’s listed at +700 just ahead of Brady at +800 at top football sportsbooks. Brady has three MVP awards (2007, 2010, and 2017), which is one shy of Rodgers’ four (2011, 2014, 2020, 2021).

Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes is the only other player with better than +1000 odds to win the MVP. Mahomes won the award in 2018 and is listed at +900 to win it again this season.
